Families enrolling a new student in the Puyallup School District begin by completing the online New Student Registration Form, with school assignment determined by their home address unless applying for a choice option.

New Student Enrollment for the 2026-27 School Year opens Monday, February 2, 2026, at midnight.
New Student Enrollment Overview
If your new student meets one of the criteria below, follow the enrollment steps further down the page to complete registration.
- Entering Kindergarten–12th grade for the first time in PSD
- Has not attended a PSD school previously
- Recently moved into PSD neighborhood boundaries
- Is transferring from another district
- Has been withdrawn and is returning
- Interested in a PSD choice school program (Puyallup Parent Partnership Program (P4), Puyallup Online Academy (POA), Walker High (WHS), Open Doors)
Current PSD students do not re-enroll unless changing districts or assigned programs.
Age Requirements for Kindergarten and Grade Placement
- Kindergarten students for the current 2025-26 school year must be five years old on or before August 31, 2025.
- Grade placement for grades 1-12 is based on previous school records, transcripts, or report cards.
- Early learning options for students who do not meet the age requirement include:
- PEEK (Early Entrance to Kindergarten) - for children with birthdays between September 1-30.
- Transition to Kindergarten (TK) for pre-k-age children who may benefit from additional preparation.
- Special Education Services for qualifying preschool-age children:
- Child Find: Developmental Screening - for preschool-age children between the ages of 3-5 whose parent/guardian is concern about their development or progress.
- Developmental Preschool - for preschool-age children ages 3 -5 years with identified disabilities requiring special education services.
Enrollment Timeline and Key Dates
While PSD accepts enrollments throughout the year:
- New student enrollment typically opens in in February for the upcoming school year in the Puyallup School District.
- Families needing in-district transfers, out-of-district waivers, choice transfers and academic program placement should apply as early as possible (Some programs have limited space and observe specific review windows)
- After completing the new student enrollment process, your school will contact you within three weeks of submission. If staff are unable to reach your family, the registration may be removed from the system.

Next Steps For Families After Enrolling New Students

- Contact from school staff within three weeks
- Requests for any missing documents
- Next steps for placement, orientation, & scheduling
If the school cannot contact you within three weeks after you submit your new student enrollment, they may remove your student’s registration form from the system.
